Removing tumors through Uterine fibroid surgery

Uterine fibroids are tumors that are not cancerous that affect the uterine walls of many women around the world. If these growths become very big and painful, there is only one thing that needs to be done and fibroids surgery is the only option. There are two different ways of conducting this surgery which include artery embolization or removal by means of surgery.
It has been seen that women that undergo the uterine artery embolization process tend to recover from the process faster than through surgery. The growths are injected with a substance called polyvinyl alcohols and this causes the tumors to stop receiving the regular flow of blood that they require and therefore they dry up and die naturally.
A uterine fibroid surgery can also be done in different ways. There is something called a myomectomy which is basically working on getting rid of the tumors without creating any damage to the uterus. This procedure is normally done in younger women that are having problems conceiving and that want to have children. Of course, this is a lengthy procedure depending on the amount of tumors that the patient has in the uterus.
Of course, there are some complications when it comes to these kinds of surgeries and they will include that the fibroids come back again even after the patient has undergone a fibroids surgery. This does happen, especially with people that have large fibroids and this can be dangerous because the scars that the operation leaves can become enlarged and the organs around these scars can suffer from the damage already created in the first place.
Now, there is another method of taking care of this kind of problem, and that is through the process of a hysterectomy. In this fibroid surgery, the uterus is totally removed. In this process then woman will not be able to conceive and therefore this is a more normal surgery with women that are 35 and above and that are having some serious problems when it comes to fibroids which may include very heavy bleeding, anaemic, having too much pain and discomfort and other symptoms related to the fibroids like urinary tract infections of problems with other organs in that area as well.
The removal of the uterus in a fibroid surgery does not mean that a woman’s menstrual period stop completely, because the ovaries are still there and they are still functioning normally. This is a more complicated surgery; however, the risks are very minimal. The only problem with this kind of surgery is the inability of the patient to have children.
